in Conversation With Deirde Sullivan

On the 6th of June I was lucky enough to have an In Conversation event with Deirdre Sullivan at Books Upstairs in Dublin. We chatted about books, pride, love and all things The Lonely Book. It was so wonderful to get to talk to Deirdre, she is so wise, so kind and so insightful. It is always a true pleasure to spend time with her and I’m so thankful that our books brought us into each others spheres. Deirdre even launched my very first book, The Space Between!

The audience were also fantastic, asking such interesting and thought provoking questions and I am so, so grateful to them for the kindness they showed me, for sharing their own stories with me and for giving the best hugs. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I’ve been having an extra anxious time recently and this event showed me that I am capable and I am brave. That I have plenty to say and the ability to say it all. I felt so safe up there in front of everyone and that’s in part thanks to my partner, friends and family, in part thanks to the endlessly supportive team at Little Island and in part thanks to the wonderful readers who absolutely radiated kindness. And it’s also in part thanks to me and my strength, and I need to remember that too!
